SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Please welcome Dorothy, Ralph, Edith and Walter to our rescue!
These four seniors found themselves in the shelter after their human died. Clearly confused and scared, they needed someone to help them. They are now safe with us, and we will make sure they spend their remaining years in comfort and love.
But...we need your help!!! Our senior boys came back as heartworm positive!!!
As with all the dogs we rescue, we always make sure to test for heartworm since it seems so prevalent in Pinal County. This is the 4th heartworm positive dog we’ve encountered in as many years, and it seems to be getting worse.
Edith and Dorothy have thankfully tested negative. That doesn’t mean that they are out of the woods as all four dogs resided in the same household. It just means that they may not be at the point in the heartworm lifecycle that it would show up on a heartworm test.
As an abundance of caution, Edith and Dorothy will be on a heartworm prevention protocol and hopefully they will never develop the disease. If we’re lucky, they won’t have to endure what poor Walter and Ralph will now have to go through.
Please donate and help these pups. Heartworm treatment is a 3-month protocol of medication and injections. Hard on the dog, but most dogs do very well, and survival rate is excellent. The cost for two dogs is well over $2,000.
Edith and Dorothy will have to be spayed and need dentals with possibly full extractions.
Ralph, Walter, Edith and Dorothy are all wonderful, sweet and loving dogs that deserve so much. Each one has been through hell, but we are determined to get them healthy. They are worth every penny!!!
Please donate if you can. We appreciate all your support!
